The Admissions Abstract College Guide 2026-2027 is here, almost. It is available on Amazon now for Pre-Order. It will be released on August 31. Make sure you reserve your copy now, and you will be able to look up the information for all 506 schools in the guide in a week.
This guide was more of an impetus to starting the Admissions Abstract than the Substack. I have worked for national test-prep and college advising companies most of my adult life, and I have looked at all of the guides for years. I always felt there was something oddly missing from them.
In professionally working with high school counselors, I often wondered what happened when a student walked in and said, “I just heard about Fictional College. How do I apply and should I apply?” If said Fictional College was in the same state and/or the counselor had many students apply to before, the counselor probably knows the answer. If it’s far away, not as well known, or just unfamiliar to that counselor, they would need to look up information in multiple places.
The Admissions Abstract College Guide is meant to help in this moment. It does not have the detailed summaries, voices of current students, or other commentary. It is just our Abstracts, posted here every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, minus the commentaries available to paid subscribers. For each school, this is a small amount of information, but what should be key for applying. In particular, each Abstract has the general profile of the school, financial information, admissions information, and application requirements. Finding them all together is only available in the Admissions Abstract College Guide.
This Guide also has Abstracts for 500 schools, more than I could publish here in one year. It’s also more than could be published in a Paperback on Amazon, apparently. I also want to note this is all my work. I built the database of information, pulled all the numbers, and checked all of the application information on my own. I also built the book myself. You can trust this information, because I verified it. I’ll also note this Guide is priced much lower than other college guides.
Pre-Orders help a book grow and signal to Amazon they should promote it, so please go ahead and buy it. Paid Subscribers on Substack will receive an EPUB file of the Admissions Abstract College Guide, which I will be sending out when the book publishes. Share it with any friends, colleagues, or students who you think should have this Guide.
How to Get Into College is a college admissions guide built from our Substack posts, detailing the ins-and-outs of the college application process. Get a year’s worth of our posts in one place. It’s not a step-by-step guide, but a working out of what happens in college admissions. You can get it below, and please share it with anyone you think would like it.
